AWARD-WINNING POPCORN SHRIMP: LOCAL LONG JOHN SILVER’S® RESTAURANTS RECOGNIZED BY INTERNATIONAL HEADQUARTERS
LOUISVILLE, KY, August 15, 2005 – Wondering where to get some of the world’s best Popcorn Shrimp? According to Long John Silver’s international headquarters, it could be right in your hometown.
Recently, Long John Silver’s restaurants from coast to coast received the company’s “ShrimpBuddy Award.” The award recognizes excellence in the delivery of Long John Silver’s recently introduced Popcorn Shrimp. The winners were in elite company, as the award was presented to fewer than 75 restaurants across the country.
“We had employees from our headquarters in Louisville visiting Long John Silver’s restaurants from Roanoke, Va., to Los Angeles, Calif.,” said Don Czepyha, Director of Restaurant Support Services for Long John Silver’s. “We had nearly 100 people visiting several hundred restaurants, and we set a very high standard for winning the ShrimpBuddy Award. Although we had good experiences at all the restaurants we visited, fewer than 75 restaurants received the award – the best of the best.”
Restaurants were evaluated in several key areas, including quality and temperature of Popcorn Shrimp, proper portioning, display of interior and exterior marketing materials, and customer service.
Excelling in almost every area was not enough to win the award. Only the teams whose restaurants met the standards in all areas received a plaque to display in the restaurant.
Long John Silver’s introduced its new Popcorn Shrimp in early July, and employees embarked on the ShrimpBuddy Tour shortly thereafter. The tour was named after the internet movie produced by Long John Silver’s to celebrate the product launch, “Road Trip with ShrimpBuddy”.
